As a weekend bonus post I am rising to the challenge of Ailsa over on wheresmybackpack.com for a post on the theme of cities. You can read the details here.
The last city I visited (if you exclude the one I actually live in) was Granada, Spain. So for no other reason than that I chose Granada as my city.

I was here during semana Santa. If people in pointy hats interest you then I have many more. Assorted colours available.

Those blue costumes are scary looking. 🙂 Not the kind of thing you see on the street every day. Great photos.
Thanks 🙂 There are different colours for different days. The scariest is the plain white ones; they really do look like KKK
People in pointy hats have a very different meaning in the United States. Fun set – thanks for sharing!
Yes it’s interesting to see but it does have KKK connotations for us.
Totally sick and wrong, even in blue!
well the Spanish argue that it’s part of their culture; these processions were going on in Spain long before a few bigots in Southern US adopted it as a fashion statement.
My Spanish teacher said it was all to do with anonymity, although quite why they need to be anonymous whilst carrying a statue of jesus through the streets I”m not so sure
The need for anonymity does seem a bit odd, but who am I to argue with tradition? 🙂
