It’s autumn in #retiro but still warm enough to take the boats out on the lake. Not that I did, since I’m on my own. I’m happier sitting back allowing someone else to do the work.
Good to see the park in #autumn though for a change.

It’s hard to miss these doll statues in #madrid ; there are apparently more than 50 of them dotted around.
They are maids of honour to the princess, or the Menina from Velázquez’s famous painting (which you can see in the #prado )
It’s hard to find a #menina without somebody draped around it taking a selfie but here’s one I spotted in#chueca 🎨

By the time I drove down from the mountains they were covered in snow. There’s always this week where suddenly the weather changes and I start thinking about changing hemispheres again.

If you always associate #gaudi with Barcelona you may be surprised to learn his designs are all over the north of Spain.
This one is in #Comillas on the coast.
Fascinating building to wander around and the town itself is pretty cool too. 😊

I’ve now followed the winding road up to #potes in the #picosdeeuropa in #northernspain
Potes is a lot more touristy than the other places I’ve visited but that also means there is a supermarket and a choice of restaurants.
Today the sun came back; it seems to delight in alternating with the rain. ☀️

The sky cleared for about an hour, although I was already soaked through by this point. It rains a lot in this part of Spain, which is why it’s so lush and green. 💦
